Deanna Matzanke
Director, Client Service, Canadian Centre for Diversity and Inclusion (CCDI)

Deanna Matzanke is a bilingual Strategic HR and Diversity Professional and employment lawyer with over 20 years’ experience in all aspects of minority inclusion and employment systems and practices. She is a certified Global Professional in Human Resources (from the Human Resources Certification Institute) and holds her Human Capital Strategist designation (with the Human Capital Institute). She also specializes in Human Resources Policy and Compliance Frameworks. She is a sought after keynote speaker, panelist and workshop facilitator on all aspects of diversity, inclusion and human resources.

Most recently, she acted as the head of Diversity and Inclusion in the Global HR function at Scotiabank where she was responsible for a wide range of employment strategies. Her portfolio included fostering and integrating the bank's Global Diversity & Inclusion Strategy for leveraging diversity across the employee, customer and community segments and implementing the Bank's Global Human Resources Policy and Compliance Framework, which addressed a large number of key areas such as privacy, occupational health and safety, human rights, flexible work, accommodation and accessibility.

Deanna’s significant community engagement is also focused on minority inclusion. She was appointed to the Partnership Council for Employment Opportunities for Persons with Disabilities by the Ontario Minister of Economic Development, Employment and Infrastructure in May 2014. She is also an active committee member on the Workplace Action Team for Partners for Mental Health (PFMH), the Episodic Disabilities Advisory Committee of the Canadian Working Group on HIV and Rehabilitation (CWGHR) and has just recently been elected to the Board of Directors for Peer Support Accreditation and Certification Canada which focuses on accredited Peer Support programs for mental health issues. Deanna served as Co-Chair for the Status of Women Committee for the City of Toronto and she also provides strategic advice and guidance to the non-profit sector in Toronto, currently working with ACCES Employment to develop their internal and external capacity to better serve their minority populations.

Deanna holds a B.A. (Hons) in Romance Languages from University of Alberta, both her common law and civil law degrees from McGill University and is the recipient of the Nathan Cotler Human Rights Award.
